WE ARE OPEN

FOR SUBMISSIONS

Aisteach Press thirsts for the weirdest of weird fiction. There are few limits to the strangeness that will quench us. We demand stories that haunt and stalk, with a chill that is both subtle yet overpowering, featuring characters that are as disgusting as they are fascinating.

Once there was Shirley Jackson and her house on the hill, now there is Julia Armfield with her watery terrors, and next we want to hear from you.

At Aisteach Press, we are eager to promote new and emerging Irish voices. The stories submitted to the magazine can take whatever shape they please, and can traverse whatever land they see fit, whether that be Ireland, or beyond.

All we ask is that whatever stories you do tell us, let them be weird as fuck.

We feature work from Irish writers living in Ireland and abroad.

Submission Guidelines

  • Aisteach Press is open only to Irish writers. We welcome work from writers of all backgrounds - we are particularly interested in work by writers from marginalised backgrounds.

  • We accept only one submission per submission call.

  • All submissions to be sent by email to aisteachpress@gmail.com.

  • Your submission should be attached as a Word Document or a PDF, and your email should include the subject line as follows: YOUR NAME - SHORT FICTION - TITLE. For example: SHIRLEY JACKSON - SHORT FICTION - THE LOTTERY

  • In the body of your submission email include your full name as you would like it to be printed in the journal, your contact email and the name of your story.

  • We will read submissions anonymously. Please do not include your name anywhere in your submission document. Any pieces that feature identifying information in the document will be disregarded.

  • All submissions should be previously unpublished. If you are sending your story to other outlets, you must make this aware to us should the story be published elsewhere.

  • Short story submissions should be between 1000-5000 words.

  • Please not that, as we are a small press, we are not in a position to pay our writers for their pieces.
